Dental Bridges in Sydney
At Ironside Advanced Dental, if teeth have been lost, the main replacement options are implants, dentures, and bridges.
A bridge can fill a gap of up to four teeth if there are healthy natural teeth flanking the gap.
The bridge will replace your missing teeth and will appear entirely natural.
In short, a fixed bridge is an appliance usually made of porcelain fused to gold alloy and is designed to replace missing teeth in the most natural way possible. This procedure usually takes from two to three appointments to complete and is very similar to having a crown placed on a tooth.
To begin, the dentist will prepare the teeth on either side of the gap by removing a portion of the enamel and dentin. Since the bridge must be carefully constructed to match the opposing tooth and ensure a correct bite, several impressions of the teeth are taken and sent to a lab which will construct the bridge. A temporary bridge will be applied to protect the exposed teeth until the next appointment.
At the second visit, the dentist will fit the bridge over the prepared teeth; and if the fit is good and the shape and shade are correct, then the dentist will cement the bridge into place.
