Dental Implants in Sydney
At Ironside Advanced Dental, if a tooth has been lost, or extracted, the gap can be replaced with a bridge, denture, or implant.
Implants are usually a very comfortable and effective replacement for teeth. They look and feel natural and can be expected to last for 20 years to life. Importantly, implants will stop resorption of the underlying bone maintaining your gum tissue and facial support. It has been our experience with the ageing population that comprehensive preventive programs are mandatory to maintain oral health and the integrity of your restorations. This is particularly important for Implants.
In short, dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed into the bone. The bone quickly grows around the implant attaching itself to the rough outer surface. Once the implant has been anchored by the bone, the implant is prepared to accept the natural looking prosthetic tooth/teeth.
Crowns, a bridge, or stabilized denture may be attached to the implant. Since these must be carefully constructed to match the opposing tooth and ensure a correct bite, several impressions of the teeth are taken and sent to a lab which will construct the prosthetics. Sometimes, more than one implant is required to replace the missing teeth.
