Tooth Whitening in Sydney
Tooth whitening is a common cosmetic dental procedure that has immediate benefits for creating an improved smile. Teeth appear lighter and rejuvenated
Many people still persist with off-the-shelf systems from the local chemist or supermarket. Unfortunately, results are inconsistent with heightened tooth sensitivity and bleaching agents not staying in the right place. Prior to any bleaching procedure, we spend a significant amount of time using preventive therapies to reduce chance and severety of sensitivity. There is also a longterm follow up protocol to ensure the whitening is maintained.
At Ironside Advanced Dental, there are 3 main methods of tooth whitening.
One system involves constructing custom made bleaching stents to hold the bleaching agent in the correct position against your teeth. This can be onerous as this system involves wearing the stents for one to three hours per day or over night for up to two weeks. As it is self-administered sensitivity and amount of shade change can be issues.
Our preferred system is an in office procedure that achieves dramatic results within two hours. During this process the teeth the bleaching agent is activated by a strong light. This is a rapid and highly effective method of creating that brilliant, consistent smile you have always wanted.
The last technique is used specifically for the situation of a “dead” tooth that has changed colour. Bleach can be placed internally to dramatically whiten and brighten the single crown.
